dolce vita sale

If you have a love for sky-high heels with leather, straps, and studs then you will be as excited as I am about the dolce vita sale that is going on right now. The sale is advertised as having an extra 25% off and free shipping...the only catch is that all sales are final, so you better love what you get!

I am still fairly obsessed with all dolce vita shoes. They all have a similar rock and roll style, but somehow I just find myself wanting more. Someday I will get tired of the over-the-top straps, studs, and leather, but until then I am loving this line.

Unfortunately the dolce vita capsule collection for Target was so disappointing that it's not even worth posting about...the idea was amazing, the execution was not.

Here are a couple cute sale picks (sorry about the tiny pics...)

melissa clearance

It's Melissa clearance time at Epaulet! Adorable and comfortable Melissa styles are on sale from 30%-75% off....quite exciting...

Melissa Ashanti Ankle Bootie Flocked $85 (reg. $120)

I just got these a couple months ago and they are my new favorite winter Melissa's! They look like velvet, but they are still waterproof and cushiony just like the rubber versions. They are definitely the most comfortable pair of ankle booties that I own. They look adorable with ankle-length leggings or footless tights.

Melissa + Vivienne Westwood 3 Straps Elevated $110 (reg. $160)

This is my other recent addition to my Melissa shoe collection...I have them in black, but the eggplant and teal are currently on sale. Again, these are the most comfortable 3.5" heels that I own....cushiony and bouncy at the ball of the foot. And they look just like patent leather so you can pair them with tights and a cocktail dress and wear them for a night out.

Melissa + Vivienne Westwood Lady Dragon $75 (reg. $149)

These are so playful and girly! If only I had a place to wear them...

You can see the rest of the Melissa's on sale at Epaulet's Brooklyn store on Smith St. or in their Melissa Clearance section online.

The good thing about spring being just around the corner is that Winter merchandise is SUPER on sale!! Sale sale sale! Gotta love the sales!

My favorite online designer website Net-A-Porter has some extreme discounts right now. I usually just drool over the designer goods that I will never be able to afford, but at 60% off a lot of pieces are much closer to being affordable.

See if you can find some designer staples on sale that you just HAVE to have: Net-A-Porter Clearance Sale.

thread social on gilt groupe

Don't miss the lovely Thread Social on sale at Gilt Groupe tomorrow (Thursday, Dec 9)!

I have loved Thread Social since they first branched out from bridalwear a few years ago and I love any opportunity to snag their dresses at more wallet-friendly prices. The good stuff at Gilt has been flying out the virtual door in seconds lately, so go to the sale as soon as it opens!

The Thread Social sale starts on Gilt Groupe at 9am PST. And you can check out what's left of the Marc by Marc Jacobs sale while you're there!

designer shoes on sale at net-a-porter

Would you like to drool over some gorgeous designer shoes?

Designer online retailer Net-A-Porter has marked down most of their Fall shoes to 50% off. Don't get too excited...the Christian Louboutin ankle booties are still almost $800 and most other prices are similar. But for some reason it sounds like a good deal when this pair of beautifulness used to be $1295....right?

Similar to my obsession for my rocker booties this summer, I love all of the innovative ankle and short booties this Fall with foldovers, cutouts, open toes, and straps. Take a little walk through my favorite designer picks from the season that are now the slightest bit more affordable...

dolce vita sale

When I find a shoe designer that I love and can afford, I really get stuck on them! (Have you seen my five million Melissa posts?)

Right now I seem to have a shoe crush on Dolce Vita. The best news ever is that Dolce Vita is having a Friends and Family sale online until Tuesday, Nov. 24. Enter the coupon code "friendsfam" at checkout to receive 25% off of your entire order.

That only gives you two days to pick out your favorite rocker booties!
If you're not in to the leather and studs that are everywhere this season, you probably should just skip this one...

dv by dolce vita sale finds

I just got the cutest DV by Dolce Vita shoes at the Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale!

Black suede open-toe cage booties for only $65.90...what an exciting find! They also come in gray suede, which would look great with black opaque tights. I can't wait to wear them out! They're kind of like a toned-down version of the open-toe platform booties that Carrie Underwood wore on Good Morning America yesterday...

{dv by dolce vita wendall boot $109.90 reg. $169.95}

I tried these on and they are also really cute, but I already have enough black boots. They're super soft leather and pull-on, so they would be perfect with skinny jeans or leggings. I would definitely wear them with denim leggings!

nordstrom half-yearly starts today

I've been a big fan of Nordstrom sales ever since I was a little girl. It's probably part of being from the Pacific Northwest since Nordie's is such an integrated part of the culture up there, but I always mark my calendar for the first day of their famous Anniversary and Half-Yearly sales. Even with all of the shopping in New York, I actually missed Nordstrom when I was living there because they are so consistent and have great customer service (which you definitely won't find in Manhattan.) The sales are the best!

The Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale for women and children starts today at Nordstrom stores and online. Pre-Fall merchandise in all departments (Savvy and t.b.d. are my favorite!) is on sale for about 33%-40% off.

daniblack on gilt fuse

Gilt Groupe's lower priced spin-off Gilt Fuse has been around for maybe a month or two now, but so far I haven't been too super excited about their offerings. But today was different!

Gilt Fuse is featuring a sale on Daniblack shoes! Daniblack is one of my new favorite shoe designers from husband and wife team Danny and Barbara Schwartz. I am always eyeing all of their soft color suedes in flats and round-toed pumps.

Visit Gilt Fuse today to see the selection available until 10/19 at 9am. Price start at $79...so affordable!

gilt fuse launches tomorrow

There has been a lot of hype about Gilt Groupe's new discount flash sale website called Gilt Fuse that is geared towards a younger and more contemporary crowd than the original Gilt Groupe. The idea is: Gilt Groupe is to Gilt Fuse as Barney's is to Barney's COOP. Sounds great to me!

The site will be launching tomorrow, Wednesday Aug 12 at 9am PST so definitely check it out and let me know what you think. Brands to expect include C&C, Generra, BCBG, DKNY Accessories, and Laundry. Gilt Groupe has been such a success that I can only imagine that Fuse will be quite wonderful....

how to shop at a sale...

I now write for the San Francisco edition of Examiner.com! I am very excited to be officially the SF Budget Fashion Examiner. My first article posted today and it is a list of my secret little rules for how to shop at sales and not end up buying tons of merchandise that you will never wear.

I'm just starting to understand Examiner.com, but I think you can add me as one of your Favorite Examiners if you want to stay updated on my articles! I write for the local edition, but a lot of my posts will apply to budget fashion shopping everywhere...

Check out my article:

How to shop at a sale and only buy items that you will wear

Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with Hello Kelli, Splendicity, Blisstree, and Examiner!

lewis cho on sale at ideeli

I definitely go through phases with my discount websites...and after that awesome melissa sale I am definitely on an ideeli kick.

There is a really great Lewis Cho sale at ideeli right now that lasts for 2 and a half more days. Lewis and Cho design simple and soft knit dresses that are extremely wearable. I have the most classic black boatneck empire waist dress from Lewis Cho that I bought at least three years ago and I have worn it so many times that it's become pilly. But I love it! I would get it in a million colors but at full price their dresses are usually a little pricey for a simple knit dress. Try to snag them at this sale for about 60% off!

One warning...their dresses tend to run short in length so you will have to pair with leggings if you plan on wearing them to work. But for a casual summer look they are great with bare legs and flats!

Here are my picks:

Mosaic Dress $72 (reg. $219)

This is the exact dress that I have in black and wear all the time. It's so soft and comfy. And I love this pattern!

Yoke Dress in Navy $72 (orig. $207)

Scoop Neck Dress $82 (reg. $242)

Sleeveless Dress II $72 (reg. $207)

Each dress is available in multiple different colors. Check online to see availability of sizes and colors.

barney's warehouse sale in san fran

(One of my first reports about my new shopping city: San Francisco!)

Racked just reported that the craziness that is the biannual Barneys Warehouse sale will now be occurring in the lovely city of San Francisco. In past years the sale has only been in New York and Los Angeles, so I'm excited to see that San Francisco is making it's way onto the fashion map.

The dates for the sales are staggered, with SF occurring first, but that doesn't mean that all the good stuff will be snagged before the other sales start...the SF sale will have leftover stuck just from the west coast stores.

Here are the dates for the sales:
San Francisco July 30 - August 9
Los Angeles August 13 - August 23
New York August 20 - Sep 7

Let me know if there are any fabulous finds!

lower prices from gilt groupe to come...

Why I didn't I think of starting Gilt Groupe? It's such a genius idea, and now it's getting even better.

Gilt Groupe just announced that next month they will be starting a spinoff site called Gilt Fuse where designer merchandise will retail for less than $150. Just in case you thought you had kicked your addiction to internet shopping...

If you don't already receive emails from Gilt Groupe about their amazing online sales here is my invitation: Gilt Groupe.

Did anyone catch sight of those gorgeous Fendi Spy Bags at over 50% off before they were Sold Out???

nordstrom sale finds...

I finally made it to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale yesterday. Most of the items that I had my eye on from the catalogue were all sold out already, but the salespeople said that they usually get more stock in after the first week of the sale.

Here are my favorites:

Joie Mesa Pintuck Top

The photo doesn't really do this blouse justice. It's a beautiful deep raspberry hue with the softest silk. It puffs a little at the shoulders and has a very flattering fit. Love it!

Linea Paolo Fae Flat

Soft, comfortable, and versatile flats.

Ruby & Bloom Gem Moccasin

These are so adorable! Very casual and comfortable mocs.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Posh Turnlock Jazz Bag

Soft definitely seemed to be my theme for the Nordstrom sale this year. Everything I loved had an amazing texture. This is a classic medium-sized Marc Jacobs leather bag for a great price.

nordie's anniversay sale starts tomorrow

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts tomorrow Friday, July 17 at 7am. This is definitely one of my all-time favorite sales. It is reliable (it happens at the end of every summer) and it is super organized!

If you are unfamiliar with the wonderfulness that is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I will explain why it is so great. Unlike most sales and discount stores where it's just a jumble of whatever didn't get sold last season, the Anniversary sale is the opposite. The fashion geniuses that they are pick what will be in style for Fall and have a pre-sale on brand new items. They have a catalogue that debuts about a week before the sale that features all of the items that will be going on sale. It's always fun to start thinking about sweaters and boots when the sale comes along! The sale only lasts until Monday, August 3 and then the Fall items all go up to regular price so I usually try to make it in the first few days.

You can see this year's catalogue online here: Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Catalogue

I was excited to see that the buyers agreed with me on many of my quick picks for Fall 2009. There are definitely lots of rocker-inspired looks with leather jackets and tall boots. Here are some of my favorites:

first pick in the bay area!

If you live in the suburbs of the bay area or are visiting Stanford, I have a great boutique find to share with you!

In the Menlo Park area about an hour south of San Francisco there is a wonderful little street called Santa Cruz. It is a lovely pedestrian-friendly street that is similar to a trendy Main Street with coffee shops, restaurants, and, of course, boutiques!

{akiko wildflower halter dress}

There are just a few boutiques in the Menlo Park area, but my absolute favorite was Milana C. The flyer that listed designers like Catherine Malandrino, Black Halo, and Joie drew my attention immediately! The store just opened and is currently having a sale with 25% off of everything in the store. The fashionably knowledgeable owner, Irina, picks a wide range of clothing by great designers in different price ranges for her store. It has a great selection of colorful jersey tops and beach dresses that reminded me that fashion is definitely different in California (no black and gray uniform for me this winter).

Milana C is located off of Santa Cruz on Chestnut Street in Menlo Park. I hope that it stays around for awhile...

{LnA Zipper Leggings}

One of my favorite finds at Milana C...these LnA Zipper Leggings that also come in capri length. I wasn't aware that my absolute favorite T-shirt designer also made the best leggings!

melissa shoes on sale

Melissa Harajuku in Navy $49 (reg. $99)

My favorite plastic shoes are on sale at ideeli!!

We all know by now that
I am obsessed with these comfortable and eco-friendly Melissa shoes. The sale at ideeli only lasts for two more days so I would recommend buying them soon...I have a feeling that all of the styles will sell out in the next 12 hours.

Ideeli is another registration required discount designer website that is slightly similar to Gilt Groupe. Here is my invitation to join:
Ideeli Invitation

You have to sign up with your email to be allowed access to their sales and then receive newsletters that include information about the upcoming sales. They usually have a great selection of designers at low prices, but sales only last a few days.

Here are some picks from the sale...

Melissa Sin IV in Navy $34 (reg. $59)

I tried these on at Epaulet in black and they are so perfect for summer so I just had to order them in Navy! They are also available in yellow.

Melissa Night III in Gold $44 (reg. $79)

I already have these in Black and they're probably my favorite shoes right now. These might be all Sold Out by now, but they have Wait Lists on Ideeli. They are also available in a metallic green.

Melissa Ultragirl in Red $39 (reg. $59)

If you are loving the Melissa shoes and want to stock up on more Sale styles, you should check out the Melissa Clearance section at Epaulet. I check it fairly often to see what styles they have in my size...they always have a great selection at ridiculously low prices.
