It's Melissa clearance time at Epaulet! Adorable and comfortable Melissa styles are on sale from 30%-75% off....quite exciting...
Melissa Ashanti Ankle Bootie Flocked $85 (reg. $120)
I just got these a couple months ago and they are my new favorite winter Melissa's! They look like velvet, but they are still waterproof and cushiony just like the rubber versions. They are definitely the most comfortable pair of ankle booties that I own. They look adorable with ankle-length leggings or footless tights.
Melissa + Vivienne Westwood 3 Straps Elevated $110 (reg. $160)
This is my other recent addition to my Melissa shoe collection...I have them in black, but the eggplant and teal are currently on sale. Again, these are the most comfortable 3.5" heels that I own....cushiony and bouncy at the ball of the foot. And they look just like patent leather so you can pair them with tights and a cocktail dress and wear them for a night out.
Melissa + Vivienne Westwood Lady Dragon $75 (reg. $149)
These are so playful and girly! If only I had a place to wear them...
You can see the rest of the Melissa's on sale at Epaulet's Brooklyn store on Smith St. or in their Melissa Clearance section online.

architect + shoes = zaha + melissa
I just received an email from Adele at fabulous Brookyln boutique Epaulet announcing the arrival of this season's new Melissa styles! There is an amazing collaboration with female Pritzker Prize winning architect Zaha Hadid and beautiful new styles in the Vivienne Westwood collection.
Zaha Hadid created this distinctive shoe with the Melissa seamless plastic construction in mind. Her concepts for the design were fluidity and asymmetry to create a sense of movement. I think this futuristic design will soon be a collector's item...I need someone to go try these on!

My favorite plastic shoes are on sale at ideeli!!
We all know by now that I am obsessed with these comfortable and eco-friendly Melissa shoes. The sale at ideeli only lasts for two more days so I would recommend buying them soon...I have a feeling that all of the styles will sell out in the next 12 hours.
Ideeli is another registration required discount designer website that is slightly similar to Gilt Groupe. Here is my invitation to join:

You have to sign up with your email to be allowed access to their sales and then receive newsletters that include information about the upcoming sales. They usually have a great selection of designers at low prices, but sales only last a few days.
Here are some picks from the sale...

I tried these on at Epaulet in black and they are so perfect for summer so I just had to order them in Navy! They are also available in yellow.

loomstate for keds
.jpg)
I have been opposed to the Keds resurgence over the last few years, but I have finally given in and am admitting that Keds are cute again. And the new collaboration between organic clothing designer Loomstate, my favorite department store Barneys New York, and Keds has convinced me that maybe I would even wear a pair...
I am committed to living a more "green" life, so I am a huge supporter of fashion designers who are now incorporating sustainable technologies into their products (remember my obsession with Melissa shoes?). The Loomstate collection for Keds features five designs that are made from 100% organic cotton, nickel free eyelets, and 100% recycled insoles. Also 1% of the proceeds of the eco-friendly collaboration is donated to The Organic Exchange, whose mission is "to deliver sustained environmental, economic and social benefits through expansion of organic agriculture."
I think the designs are pretty cute (the black Birds pattern is my favorite) and I also believe that slip-on shoes are just a really great invention. The Keds and Loomstate collection is available online at Barneys for $75/pair.

i can't get enough of melissa shoes
Here I am again professing my love for the fun, comfortable, and unique collection of Melissa Plastic Dreams footwear. I spent a good amount of time at Epaulet with wonderful owner Adele last week in Brooklyn while I tried on every style available...and I am here to give a full report!
I posted a while back when I first discovered the amazingly complete collection of Melissa Plastic Dreams shoes at Epaulet. Now I have been there multiple times and actually own a few pairs of Melissa shoes so I can tell you more about them.
Melissa shoes are made in Brazil from recycled plastic. They are molded from one soft piece, so they are extremely comfortable with no hard edges to cause rubbing. I wear them all day and they stay comfortable! Some people worry about foot odor with plastic shoes, but they actually have a sweet fruity smell and are extremely easy to wash with soap and water. I am completely obsessed with these shoes and want to own every pair!!
I will keep you udpated with new styles as they come out, but here are my current picks:
Melissa Campana Corallo in Coral $79Got these! I love wearing these for a pop of color with simple jeans and tank. The shoes are asymmetrical so the left is different from the right. I also loved them in Silver.
Melissa Night III in Black $79These are the most basic Melissa shoes. I mentioned them in my original post but I get tons of comments on them everytime I wear them, so I thought I would mention them again. They look great on (see picture above), they are waterproof, comfortable, affordable, and they can pass as patent leather so you can even wear them to work...I guess I don't understand why everyone doesn't get a pair of these!
Melissa Vinyl Heel in Pale Gray $99Got these too! They look absolutely amazing on with the solid one piece wedge heel (see picture above). The pale gray is a unique and fun color for summer. Love them!
Melissa Alexandre Herchcovitch Scarfun Wedge in Navy Pearl $99The most comfortable ankle strap 3.5" wedge heel that you will ever wear.
You will be hearing a lot about Melissa shoes and Epaulet from me over the next months...

melissa plastic dreams shoes
Melissa Night Flat Rubber Black $79
Today I finally tried on my first pair of Melissa Plastic Dreams shoes at Epaulet on Smith St. in Brooklyn. I've been fascinated by these shoes for over a year, but since they aren't available to order from the Melissa Plastic Dreams website, I eventually gave up on finding them. But today I spotted nearly the entire spring line in a storefront and was excited to experience these plastic wonders firsthand. They really are adorable and comfortable!
Melissa Zig Zag Campana Flat $59
My interests in sustainable architecture have bled into my fashion interests, so that now I am putting effort into discovering designers with environmentally-friendly products. Melissa shoes are made in Brazil from recycled plastic and the production process uses sustainable practices. The shoes are made of a mono-material so they can be easily broken down and recycled. The factories recycle their materials and byproducts so that only .01% of their production process leaves the building as waste. The company also exhibits social responsibility by offering their factory workers above-average wages and benefits, and maintaining partnerships with numerous local non-profit organizations.
Melissa Ultragirl Flat Smoke $69
Melissa Vivienne Westwood Three Straps Red $119
Melissa shoes are made as one single molded piece, which creates a recognizable and intriguing aesthetic. The plastic is soft and changes shape to mold to your foot as you wear the shoes. I love the flats with simple elegant elements like a tiny circular peep toe or an asymmetrical side strap. Melissa has produced collaborations with non-shoe designers like architect Zaha Hadid, Disney, Karim Rashid and have a current collection designed by Vivienne Westwood.
Melissa Vinyl Heel Navy $99
If you are in the market for plastic rain shoes, I highly recommend these over the style-offensive crocs (I didn't even want to mention that name on a fashion blog). But also try these shoes for everyday wear...I think environmentally-friendly, stylish, and comfortable makes quite a winning combination.
Epaulet has an extensive collection of Melissa shoes that can be purchased online. If you have questions about ordering the shoes, feel free to call Adele at Epaulet at 718.522.3800...she is a Melissa shoes expert!
