i still love thread social in fall 2009

Oh lovely Thread Social, how exciting it is to see what you come up with each season!

Thread Social's Fall collection has silky ruffles and bows on minis and long-sleeved blouses paired with slim tuxedo jackets for a sophisticated and feminine look. A brilliant cold weather color palette: matte black with deep purples and blues and pops of bright yellow, turquoise, and peach.

lewis cho on sale at ideeli

I definitely go through phases with my discount websites...and after that awesome melissa sale I am definitely on an ideeli kick.

There is a really great Lewis Cho sale at ideeli right now that lasts for 2 and a half more days. Lewis and Cho design simple and soft knit dresses that are extremely wearable. I have the most classic black boatneck empire waist dress from Lewis Cho that I bought at least three years ago and I have worn it so many times that it's become pilly. But I love it! I would get it in a million colors but at full price their dresses are usually a little pricey for a simple knit dress. Try to snag them at this sale for about 60% off!

One warning...their dresses tend to run short in length so you will have to pair with leggings if you plan on wearing them to work. But for a casual summer look they are great with bare legs and flats!

Here are my picks:

Mosaic Dress $72 (reg. $219)

This is the exact dress that I have in black and wear all the time. It's so soft and comfy. And I love this pattern!

Yoke Dress in Navy $72 (orig. $207)

Scoop Neck Dress $82 (reg. $242)

Sleeveless Dress II $72 (reg. $207)

Each dress is available in multiple different colors. Check online to see availability of sizes and colors.

met's costume institute best dressed

Jessica Biel in Versace Atelier and Justin Timberlake in bespoke William Rast. The most gorgeous couple around...and Justin looks pretty cute in those glasses!

Every year the stars show up in their very best for the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute Gala. This year's theme was "Model as Muse," so designers were spotted escorting their favorite looks on their favorite models down the red carpet. I love this event because it's a chance to really push your personal style and wear something that is just a little more haute couture than maybe you are used to...

Here are my picks for best looks of the evening:

Claire Danes in Armani Prive and Hugh Dancy in custom Burberry. I love the beige draping with the sparkle.

Leighton Meester in Louis Vuitton. Most people probably hate this look, but I love that she went completely over the top and somehow she just pulled it off. Confidence! Or maybe I just like Gossip Girl too much.

Ashley Olsen in The Row and Justin Bartha in Tom Ford. A gorgeous and sophisticated dress of her own design! Her sleek bob looks great too.

Emma Hemming in Donna Karan and Bruce Willis. I think we're supposed to hate this woman because she's a homewrecker, but they look pretty stunning together.

Proenza Schouler's Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough with model Raquel Zimmerman in their design. I love the tough vibe of the look and the vivid purple.

oscars best dressed

I watched the Academy Awards from beginning to end last night and picked my favorites from the red carpet. There was a lot of muted colors and variations on creme, which I thought was very refreshing and tasteful.

Here are my top picks:
Marisa Tomei in Versace. This entire look was my overall favorite of the evening...the pleats, the color, the train, the asymmetry, the jewels, the hair, the makeup. How does she not get older??

Kate Winslet (Best Actress) in Atelier Yves Saint Laurent by Stefano Pilati. I think we need to refer to the 2009 Annual Academy Awards as "Kate's Night." This is my second favorite dress. I love anything in grey and the layered draping of the black lace pairs with it wonderfully. Go Kate!

Penelope Cruz (Best Supporting Actress) in vintage Pierre Balmain. The embroidery and the color of this dress are gorgeous.

Natalie Portman in Rodarte. If I saw this dress on anyone else I probably wouldn't have picked it as one of my tops because the color is a tad too bubble gum prom dress for me. But Natalie looked so breathtakingly gorgeous with her smoky eyes and tasteful tan that I just couldn't deny that she looked quite perfect.

Amy Adams in Carolina Herrera with Fred Leighton necklace. I think red gowns can often seem slightly 80s bridesmaid, but this vivid gown with black trim looks beautiful with her fare skin tone and auburn hair. The bright jewels in her collar necklace are amazing. The only problem is that her dress seems to match the color of the carpet a little too well...
