coach supports bloggers & a giveaway

I am constantly interested in the way that the
impact of blogs grows in the fashion world.

A
continuous theme throughout my observations about blogging and fashion is studying the way that bloggers have changed the way that the general fashion-loving public has access to high fashion. Fashion bloggers are being recognized as cyber-stylists who make picks and critique designs just like the highest paid editors and fashion industry leaders do.

Coach is featuring a project on their website called Blog-A-Day where they feature a different fashion and style blog each day. Blogs appreciate being recognized by designers and designers are starting to appreciate being recognized by blogs!

Shopaholics Daily, which is run by my blogger friends Aly and Kori, has been selected to be featured in Coach's Blog-A-Day and in conjunction is hosting a Giveaway for a free Coach Audrey bag in purple (valued at $598).

lower prices from gilt groupe to come...

Why I didn't I think of starting Gilt Groupe? It's such a genius idea, and now it's getting even better.

Gilt Groupe just announced that next month they will be starting a spinoff site called Gilt Fuse where designer merchandise will retail for less than $150. Just in case you thought you had kicked your addiction to internet shopping...

If you don't already receive emails from Gilt Groupe about their amazing online sales here is my invitation: Gilt Groupe.

Did anyone catch sight of those gorgeous Fendi Spy Bags at over 50% off before they were Sold Out???

portland, oregon sale alert

There is a ridiculous sale on handbags at Brooklyn Industries on NW 23rd St. I went on Sunday and got two handbags: one purple fold-over convertible satchel for $16.80 (reg. $88) and one black cross-body medium small messenger in black for $20.30 (reg. $68). I could have gotten a ton more because they were all very cute and very cheap.

vintage gucci handbags are always in style

I am the luckiest girl in the world!

I happen to inherit my love for all things fashion from my amazingly talented fashion designer grandmother Miki. She went to design school in California, and I have always loved looking through her old sketches and patterns to see the beautiful clothing that she designed when she was young. She taught me everything I know about sewing, knitting, and crocheting when I was only five years old...and I still use those skills today.

On my most recent trip to visit her this weekend, she handed down to me four gorgeous vintage Gucci handbags that she bought in Beverly Hills years before I was even born. I have never owned such fabulous handbags! They have all been well-loved by my grandma, but they are still in amazing condition after all of these years.

I have always known, but am now fully realizing, that good design truly never goes out of style. You must take great care of your classic designer pieces so that they can withstand time and maybe someday you will be able to pass them on as well.

I'm excited to start learning more about vintage Gucci!! I think I will start trying to predict which items in my wardrobe could perhaps become vintage treasures someday...

beautiful floral mixed media bags

Zowie Zinnia Tote for $128

I love when tulips and daffodils start to bloom and I find designs that have the distinctly fresh breezy feel of springtime...

I just discovered some beautiful mixed media handbags at Anthropologie that have a wonderful light spring feel with soft leather straps and pastel-hued floral fabrics. I also like that the totes have my favorite spring handbag trend: cross-body straps!

felix rey for target early release

(images courtesy of nitrolicious)

Once again, Target has pulled a sneaky tactic and released its designer line at at retail store before the official launch date. I spotted the Felix Rey for Target handbag line at the Atlantic Avenue store in Brooklyn on Wednesday, March 4, when the launch date is supposed to be March 29. If you are interested in snagging these bags before they are gone, I suggest checking your local Target now because by March 29 they could all disappear.

Addressing the same issue, I was actually at Target for the first day of the launch of the McQ line which, judging by the completely empty racks in the McQ section, must have also hit the floor many days earlier. Get your calendar straight Target...some of the fashion-obsessed mark our calendars for these things...

The designers Lily Band and Sulaika Zarrouk designed the line of Felix Rey for Target bags with a crisp structured feel of thick linen with beach-inspired designs and large gold shell clasps. Although I can't attest to the length of time that the bags will hold up, I did appreciate that the bags seemed solidly constructed. I was extremely tempted to get the beautiful coral bag...I just have a hard time keeping white fabric bags clean...
